The first stop on our Three Islands Trip with Cruise Whitsundays was Daydream Island. The resort on Daydream is getting a bit old but still very popular with families. At the entrance to the resort is a large man made living reef with starfish, stingrays, sharks, various fish and living coral. Daily educational and feeding sessions are held at the living reef - these were very popular.
Daydream Island is only small and we joined a guided tour during our stopover which involved a rainforest walk up over the main hill of this island - I would advise you to wear walking shoes. This is a lovely walk and very cool under the canopy of the trees and ferns - great views along the way. Mermaid Beach is close to the resort and you will see three mermaid statues sitting on the rocks just off the beach- this beach consists mainly of crushed coral and is quite rough to walk on. The southern end of Daydream is where you will find shops and bakery as well as an outdoor cinema which is popular in the warmer months.
We enjoyed our time on Daydream Island and found the staff friendly and welcoming.
