The Daintree River Ferry takes cars and buses across the Daintree River in order to continue the journey to Cape Tribulation. We were advised to set off early from Port Douglas to reach the ferry before the tour buses arrived.
The fee for the ferry across the Daintree River is $26 return per car and cash will be required if you arrive early - before the EFTPOS machine. The ferry crossing is very well organised and can hold about 24 cars per trip. There can be a a bit of a delay during busy times but we did not mind as we just turned the engine off and walked down to the river's edge.
