Commercial Tavern - Ayr

I can highly recommend calling into the Commercial Hotel on the main street of Ayr (Queen Street) for lunch or dinner. This Hotel is very nicely decorated inside with plenty of space to sit and enjoy a drink or meal.  We were greeted warmly by the publican who informed us of the specials and made sure we knew of the options available for our meal. They have a daily luncheon special - 300 gram rump steak with salad and chips (we were able to change this to mash and veges) was available the day we called in. We had been advised by a local earlier in the day to try the steak, so we did and it was delicious.

Our other meal was lamb shanks with mash and veges - again delicious. This meals were large and very filling. While waiting for our lunch to arrive we ordered a drink - again they offer specials each day on various beers on tap. They also had an apple cider on tap which I had not tried before. The publican was more than happy to give me a taste before placing our drink order - this is going the extra mile in customer service (nice for a change).

Of course they have regular functions during the evening and night time meal specials. I would not hesitate to return to the Commercial Hotel with its friendly atmosphere and great prices.
