Gagudju Dreaming is an Indigenous owned business including the Cooinda lodge which is surrounded by the Kakadu National Park - located about 4.5 kilometres off the Kakadu Highway, next to Yellow Water Billabong. We stayed here in our caravan during our first trip to Kakadu - what a great spot. Cooinda Lodge is a beautiful base to explore the areaa - easy access to Yellow Water cruises, Warradjan Cultural Centre, Jim Jim Falls etc. The accommodation and gardens are quite amazing and there is plenty of shade to enjoy a stroll during the day. It has a resort-style pool that was very popular with the children and plenty of seating in shaded spots throughout the grassed areas to relax while keeping an eye on the kids. We had a buffet breakfast in the alfresco dining area - plenty of food and a great variety.
The Barra Bistro and Bar was very busy during the evenings and with a large menu - of course barramundi is included. The reception area will make tour bookings for you and we enjoyed a sunrise cruise on Yellow Water Billabong - highly recommended. This is a great place to stay and I would not hesitate to use this as our base on the next adventure to Kakadu. There is even a private airstrip at Cooinda if you decide to take a charter plane for a birds eye view of Kakadu National Park. The Lodge rooms at Cooinda are air-conditioned and have their own private outdoor sitting area. These are non-smoking rooms with ensuites and are set among beautifully landscaped gardens.
