Marrapikurinya Park - Port Hedland

Marrapikurinya Park (sometimes spelled Marapikurrinya) can be found in the CBD area of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Access to the car parking area is via Richardson Street - one of the main roads through town. Port Hedland was very windy during our visit and is a huge industrial port - dusty and dirty in most areas. The port is full of large ships transporting Iron Ore and Salt. 

Marrapikurinya Park is one of the areas down town which is neat with lovely of grassed areas and well maintained garden beds, overlooking the harbour. This is a great park for a picnic with a playground, plenty of parking, shade, seating and toilets. It is also adjacent to the jetty and port operations. If you want to find out what ships are passing then head to the Visitor Information Centre on Wedge Street for ship viewing times.

Very interesting spot.
