Bumbaks Preserves & Icecreams - Carnarvon

Bumback Preserves and Icecream outlet is found on North River Road about 10 kilometres from the centre of Carnarvon. This wonderful shop sells products made using the fruit and vegetables grown on the plantation - very popular with locals and visitors to the Gascoyne area.

We headed to Bumbaks during our stay in town to try one of their famous icecreams - banana split covered in chocolate and almond as well as a mango and hazelnut icecream covered in hazelnut chocolate - absolutely delicious and highly recommended by the RvTrips team. They have a great saying at this outlet as you leave "Don't forget to get your bum back to Bumbaks" - we would definitely call in again on our next visit to Carnarvon

You can purchase a huge range of wonderful items - dried fruit and fruit straps (I took a huge range home for the Christmas stockings), preserves etc. They have seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables and this is a great way to get fresh produce while supporting local farmers.

Apparently the plantations in this area provide a majority of Perth’s winter vegetables. You will be surprised that this is such an important food growing area as the riverbed is almost always dry. The water of the Gascoyne River sits below the surface in underground reserves for the majority of the year (sometimes visible after heavy rainfall). The water is drawn form underground aquifers to supply the town and horticultural area’s.
