Cape Le Grand NP

During our stay in Esperence we were advised to head out to Cape Le Grand National Park for the day and look around. Our friends had camped at Lucky Bay Campground and really enjoyed the area and thought we would like to see it. Cape Le Grand is about 50 kilometres east of Esperence in the southern part of Western Australia. The roads are sealed and I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful area - several places to camp the night or make it a day trip from Esperence.

What we saw:

• Frenchman Peak - large granite outcrop you can climb and see for miles
• Lucky Bay - voted the whitest sand in Australia - you have to feel this sand to believe how pure it is and how sqeaky it feels
• Lucky Bay - Coffee cart located on the beach for a relaxing cuppa
• Lucky Bay - Kangaroos on the beach so tame you can get close to them for a photo or feed them some fruit.
• Campground with lovely views but small sites (toilets and showers) - Lucky Bay
• Wild Flowers - everywhere in Cape Le Grand - some we had not seen before
• Thistle Cove - with whistling rocks (when the wind blows you can actually hear them whistling)
• Hellfire Bay - public toilets, wildflowers, beautiful beach 
• Le Grand Beach - private camping spots - toilets and beach of course.

Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time when visiting Cape Le Grand National Park and climb Frenchman Peak.
