Myrtleford is a lovely little spot along the Great Alpine Way between Wangaratta and Bright. The Alpine Visitor Information Centre is accessed through The Alpine Gate Cafe which was very busy. There is a toilet in the building and the VIC has a range of maps and brochures on this beautiful part of Victoria.
Both times I called into the VIC I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly with lots of local advice on the area. They have a large range of local produce including a wall of wines from the region – very well priced and lovely – purchased Devils Creek Sauvignon Blanc (yum) and Devils Creek Merlot (also yum). I also purchased some pumpkin seed products from a local company called Pumpkin Seeds Australia, including chocolate coated pumpkin seeds - very interesting.
Coffee at the Alpine Gate Café was very good and so was the chocolate brownie and gluten free slice – full of fruit, nuts and coconut.
