While staying at the BIG4 Bendigo Marong Holiday Park on the Calder Highway we took the opportunity to head into Bendigo CBD to take a look around this important city in central Victoria. First stop, of course, was the Bendigo Visitor Information Centre.
The Visitor Information Centre is housed in the beautiful old Post Office building which is a grand structure sitting on the main street through town and located at the edge of Rosalind Park - you can't miss it. Short term parking is provided for visitors alongside the building and, if you follow the signs you will find designated parking for those towing caravans.
We found some helpful staff with plenty of local knowledge and happy to make bookings, offer suggestions on things to see and provide maps or brochures. Tickets for the Bendigo Vintage Talking Tram tour can be purchased from the VIC and this is a wonderful way to learn some history of the area. Tickets can also be purchased from the Tram Depot and these last for two days during which time you can get on and off the tram at any of the stops.
The Bendigo Visitor Information Centre is open everyday from 9 am to 5 pm (except Christmas Day).
