Walker Flat is a small place on the Murray River about 53 kilometres north of Mannum along Hunter Road. We were advised by the Visitor Information Centre in Mannum that this was a great spot to view the magnificent cliffs at the edge of the river. We headed to Walker Flat late one afternoon and caught the ferry accross the river to the beautiful parkland area in order to view the cliffs. Beside the park is a small shop selling fuel, food, ice creams etc, and across the road are public toilets.
These cliffs are beautiful colours and, as you can see from the photos, look quite majestic with the sun reflecting off the surface. There seems to be two arms of the river at Walker Flat and there are houses along the banks on either side. Plenty of bird life and if you look hard enough you will see birds nesting in the cliff face.
