On a day trip to Swan Reach from Mannum we stopped at Len Kroehn's lookout for some amazing views of the Murray River, wetland area and limestone cliffs - you can sometimes see birds nesting on the islands. The lookout is on the Walker Flat - Swan Reach Road near a small place called Nildottie.
One of the information signs at this lookout has some amazing statistics on the Mighty Murray River - for example it is the third longest river in the world.
The Visitor Information Centre at Mannum or Swan Hill can supply you with maps and information on how to access Len Kroehn's Lookout - well worth the effort. There is a bitumen drive to the lookout and is a free overnight stopping area big enough for large rigs. Take note of the signs and be careful not to walk too close the the cliff edge as you never know if they are weathered underneath. We have been quite surprised on a number of occasions when you look at a cliff from the other side of the river.
