We called in to look at Ardrossan on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia during our caravanning trip from Port Vincent to Victor Harbor. There is a great parking area at the end of the main street (First Street) which is quite large enough for several cars towing caravans and motorhomes. This car parking area overlooks wonderful red cliffs and the long jetty stretching into deeper water (unfortunately we did not have to time to walk along the jetty which has its own carpark further down the hill). Next to the parking area is a covered picnic table, children's playground and lovely grassed areas.
It appeared to be low tide and there were large sandy flats below the cliff faces - the water was a beautiful blue water. There are lovely views from the car parking area and easy walking distance to the Ardrossan Bakery (for yummy fresh baked goodies) and shops. The public toilets are further along First Street (at the intersection with Fourth Street).
Ardrossan has a lovely main street with a wide median strip full of large pine trees proving plenty of shade. As in a lot of towns on the Yorke Peninsula this one is also full of beautiful old stone and brick buildings - well maintained and houseing all sorts of business like museums, post office, memorial hall etc. The public toilets can be found just off the main street - look for some murals painted on the side of one of the historical builsings. This is quite a busy town.
