Julia Creek is RV Friendly and provides a camp on the eastern side of town where you can obtain a permit to stay (free) for up to four nights. When we drove through this camp, it was peak tourist season and there was an on-site camp host to register your stay and provide a permit. These permits are free and can also be obtained from the Julia Creek Visitor Information Centre (07 4746 7690).
There is no water or power and you must be self sufficient - picnic tables, bush cook camps and bins are provided. This free camp is alongside the water's edge of Julia Creek - maybe try some fishing. Bright coloured bikes are available from this rest area to be used for cycling into town on the fully sealed walking/riding track - what great service from the local Council
Apparently there is an arrangement that if you stay four nights at the free camp then you get a discount at the caravan park (check with the Park on 07 4746 1708). The Julia Creek Caravan Park has bush dinner nights during the busy period and provide buses for those staying at the free camp.
