Isisford is a small town in outback Queensland on the Barcoo River. The road between Blackall and Isisford is two lanes wide but very bumpy. The car and van were tossed all over the place. Lovely drive with lots of flowers along the side of the road.
Isisford has a large camping area beside the river just over the bridge as you enter town from Blackall. New building - The Outer Barcoo Interpretive Centre, - with coffee shop, café and museum with a replica of the Isisfordia Duncani – an ancestor of all the worlds crocodilians that lived about 98 million years ago. The café has tables inside and out and a great display of fine bone china tea cups and saucers.
The Visitor Information Centre is located within the local council building near the library. Behind this building are public toilets in the local park with a variety of children’s play equipment. Lovely shade trees and picnic tables to enjoy lunch.
