The Isisford Rest Area is also known as the Barcoo River camping area. This is, of course, on the banks of the Barcoo River and just over the bridge as you head into town from Blackall. The camping area has a toilet block; the nearby park behind the council building and library, has an amenities block with showers. Isisford is a small town in outback Queensland about 120 km west of Blackall and about 85 km south of Ilfracombe (near Longreach).
The Barcoo River offers excellent fishing, canoeing and bird watching - but be warned the river can rise very quickly during heavy rain. The camping area was very popular with all sizes of motor homes and campers. A fee is payable at the Council Office.
