Evening Star Tourist Park - Charleville

The Evening Star Tourist Park and camping ground is about eight kilometres from Charleville, Queensland and has been set up on Thurlby Station.  It is extremely well designed with large drive-through sites - Dot (the owner) calls them marriage saver sites (quite true). Each site is separated by a row of shrubs and they are very flat - making parking even easier. The amenities are self contained (toilet, shower and hand basin in each) which Dot says is very good for older couples travelling with one partner who is a bit shaky. I had never thought of this and was extremely impressed that these park owners were so conscious of the comfort and dignity of the older travelling couple.  

They have created a large campfire area and licensed bar where they invite everyone to come together for happy hour. The station owners also provide camp fire dinners and entertainment if you feel like a night away from cooking. Self contained cabins are available if you are not towing a van or travelling in a motor home.  

The Evening Star Tourist Park is located on a working cattle station - tours are run regularly which explain the operation of this property and allow you to look around. We loved the feel of this Tourist Park, and the friendly nature of Dot - will definitely stay here on our next visit to Charleville.
