The Cairns Visitor Information Centre(s) can be found on the Esplanade in the centre of Cairns and across the road from recreational parkland that includes a very popular public pool (The Lagoon) overlooking the water. Change room and lockers are available and we saw lots of visitors cooling off after a busy day exploring this beautiful part of Tropical North Queensland.
Either centre can help tourists with accommodation and tour bookings as well as providing maps and pamphlets on the area. Cairns Visitor Information Centre offers online services for bookings with great information on the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding rain forests. Parking is a premium and I would not recommend towing the caravan into the centre of Cairns.
We stopped at the VIC on the corner of Shields Street and this great centre is housed in a lovely old building with a tropical garden - well signposted.
