Ormiston Gorge Campground - West MacDonnell NP

Ormiston Gorge is lovely place to visit with another beautiful swimming hole located in the West MacDonnell ranges in the Northern Territory - west of Alice Springs. 

Ormiston gorge has a great camping ground and I understand that it is $10 per head per night. There are showers and flush toilets and a number of gas barbeques scattered throughout the parking area. The gas barbeques not only have a flat plate but two burners for pans and kettles. These were all very clean. 

There is a kiosk at this site for food, coffee and cold drinks.  Plenty of car parking spaces in the shade and a short walk to the gorge. There is a view platform up on the side of the gorge but unfortunately we did not have enough energy for the climb – it was 39 degrees and we had already done plenty of walking.  A short walk around the bend from the main gorge and you will be treated to magnificent view of the surrounding cliffs. 

This is a beautiful spot.
