Anbangbang Billabong lies in the shadow of Nourlangie Rock within Kakadu National Park and is a good place to view a wide range of wildlife. Large numbers of water fowl and wading birds inhabit the billabong and many wallabies can be found grazing around the water’s edge. There is a walking trail around the circumference of Anbangbang billabong with many picnic areas.© Wikipedia

To access Anbangbang Billibong we followed the signs to Nourlangie Rock. There are two roads to the right when heading to Nourlangie:
You can park on either side of the Billabong to gain access. This billabong was full of lilies and birdlife - quite beautiful. Anbangbang Billabong is filled by runoff during the wet which gradually recedes and evaporates during the dry, attracting water birds to the shallow water to feed on the fish.
The paths are well marked for the walk around the Billabong, although it is not always open all the way around. There are signs warning of crocodiles so I was a bit concerned about getting too close to the water. We even saw a sign warning of a large buffalo that had been seen close to the Billabong - keep your eyes open.
