Turn at the Bluebottles Cafe in the middle of town, follow the road and you will arrive at parkland that sits at the edge of Woolgoolga Lake. The Woolgoolga lakeside Holiday Park (caravan park) is also found here - situated between the lake and the beach in a lovely quiet location.
You will find a children's playground in the middle of the park and public toilets at one end of the road heading along the shores of the lake. Plenty of shade and some picnic tables are scattered around the area and this looks like a safe place to enjoy the water.
Unfortunately during our visit to this area we noticed a very distinct smell - looked up into the trees that were full of bats. There were hundreds of them as can be seen in the photos. Bat pooh can strip the paint from your car so be careful where you park when visiting Woolgoolga Lake.
