Karuah is a small coastal town on the Banks of the Karuah River and located at the start of Port Stephens - a large Oyster Growing Area. We were informed that the Karuah Oyster and Timber Festival was being held over the weekend, so we thought we would get in early and purchase some local oysters for dinner. We visited the local butcher, Karuah Quality Meats for some bacon and then headed to Cole Bros Oysters for the vital ingredient of our Oyster's Kilpatrick. A dozen beautiful looking local oysters in the shell - delicious.
Dean Cole was in store busily opening oysters for the festival at Longworth Park the next day and informed us that they estimated they would sell 1,000 dozen oysters over the weekend and that they would open about 800 dozen - WOW. The rest are sold unopened in bags. Farm fresh oysters sold at the waterfront - does not get any better for those who love fresh seafood.
Cole Bros Oysters are only about 600 metres from the BIG4 Karuah Jetty Holiday Park and our Caravan - easy to locate. Very convenient and highly recommended for delicious Oysters.
