The Big Picture - Broken Hill

I highly recommend that you visit the Silver City Art Centre and view the Big Picture. There is a fee charged to view this painting but I think it is well worth the money - I have never seen anything like it. This is the largest acrylic painting in the world which is displayed in a semi circlular shape covering walls and ceiling (12 metres X 100 metres). This Big Picture shows the landscapes around Broken Hill and included amazing paintings of plants and animals - all viewed from a central platform - the size and detail are quite mind boggling.

The Silver City Art Centre also has an extensive art gallery (painting and pottery), chocolate shop, locally made silver jewellery and a large variety of gifts. The jewellery is made in the the Silver City Mint which smelts, casts and manufactures many of the pieces for sale - I purchased some great gifts for Christmas (reasonably priced).
