We stopped at Sand Fire Roadhouse for fuel on our trip from Broome to Eighty Mile Beach Caravan Park - along the Great Northern Highway at the top of Western Australia. There was plenty of red dirt around the roadhouse as water is very scarce. A rather unusual feature sits out the front of the roadhouse - a smashed old red car.
It has a caravan park and cabins out the back as well as motel rooms. There is an outdoor covered area at the side of the main building and nearby are some historic pieces that were damaged in a fire - interesting to wander around and have a look.
