The Aquarium (as the locals call it) is a lagoon at Point Quobba - about 75 kilometres north-west of Carnarvon in Western Australia. The lagoon is about one kilometre south of the blowholes and is a beautiful place for snorkelling and swimming - very popular with the locals. The waters of the lagoon are quite calm as it protected by rocks from the ocean swell. We visited the area on a very windy day with a large swell causing the blowholes to perform wonderfully, but the lagoon was still calm enough to snorkel.
I am sure it is called The Aquarium because of the large range of beautiful tropical fish and coral that thrive in this lovely clear water. This is a safe spot for children to swim and there are numerous shade structures along the beach to enjoy a picnic. RvTrips highly recommend that you take your swimming costumes when you head out to Point Quobba and enjoy this magnificent spot on the coast.
