We took a drive to Home Valley Station on a day trip from Kununurra. It was very exciting to travel along part of the Gibb River Road and cross the famous Pentecost River - I had to drive so my husband could film our crossing. Unfortunately there were a number of fires on either side of the Gibb River Road and at one stage we were asked to drive with lights on and hazards flashing - this made it very difficult to enjoy the scenery heading into the Station.
We enjoyed lunch at the Dusty Bar and Grill looking out over the lovely gardens. I tried the homemade Gunbalanya Buffalo Pattie with macadamia nut pesto on a bun, with chips and salad - this was really yummy. There is a lovely pool area which seemed popular with the guests staying at the Station. Home Valley Station offers a number of accommodation options and there are some private areas along the river to set up camp.
