BIG4 Seymour Holiday Park

While travelling from Lake Eilden to Benalla in eastern Victoria we stopped for a few days at the BIG4 Seymour Holiday Park located on a bend in the Goulburn River. This park was previously known as the Goulburn River Caravan Park and was changed to a BIG4 when Andrew and Nola Ricketson recently purchased this caravan park in the small town of Seymour.  In fact some signs leading to the park still display Goulburn River Park so don't be confused, you are heading in the right direction towards Trevan Street.  

Andrew and Nola have a great deal of experience and have owned several caravan parks around Victoria and believe that being a member of BIG4 has many benefits for both the park and it's visitors.  Access to the park is via boom gates – one leading to cabins and powered sites and the other to an unpowered camping area near the banks of the River. There is a designated parking area near the entrance to stop while checking into the park.

We were allocated a powered grass site backing onto bushland which was easy to access and fairly level. There is a railway track nearby and you can hear trains during the day but I must say that I did not hear any pass during the night. There are two amenities blocks within the park - both clean and spacious. One block of amenities is opposite the jumping pillow and the other near the entrance, camp kitchen and children’s playground. 

This BIG4 park has a very large  unpowered grassed area in the bottom section which is shady and close to the river. I am sure this area is very popular during the school holidays with just a short walk to the river for a spot of fishing. Directly alongside the BIG4 park is boat ramp providing convenient access to the river.

As you drive towards the caravan park you will notice a large council park on the other side of the boat ramp with a new children’s playground, picnic tables and barbeques.  This is a relaxing place for a stroll in the late afternoon with plenty of seating and large river gums providing shade.  Very relaxing way to end the day.

During our stay the park was busy installing two new family cabins which will be a great asset for those visiting over Christmas.  There are several drive through sites near the entrance and these seemed to be full most evenings with visitors stopping over for the night. 

To sum up, the BIG4 Seymour Holiday Park is a well managed, tidy park with great amenities. Enjoy the peaceful location, this is a great spot to stay when in Seymour.
