The Woomera Traveller’s Village and Caravan Park is an interesting experience in this very quiet country town. On our first night we were the only caravan in the park and there was one other motor home parked in the camping area - close to the amenities. We arrived just before 5 pm and Bob (the manager) told us the information centre was about to close, so we raced down to get some brochures and maps. They closed at 4.50 pm and drove off as we walked towards the door.
Woomera is like a ghost town and there was hardly anyone around but we found the caravan park a good base to explore Roxby Downs, Andamooka and of course Woomera itself.
The amenities are very old but clean and the toilets extremely small but adequate. Pets are welcome and I must say the service is very friendly. There is a Camp kitchen and the park is only about 10 minutes walk to town. There are several cabins.
The highlight of our stay at Woomera Travellers's Village and Caravan Park was the Cudgee Bar. This is licensed on site establishment that has been created in an old shipping crate. It is fully air conditioning and tables are set up in the shade outside this small building. The drinks are very cheap and we enjoyed a chat with locals on the first night - Jami was our bartender and he was really friendly and helpful.
Our second night's stay at Woomera saw more people arrive at the caravan park and we once again made friends at the Cudgee Bar. Even though the caravan park is basic we really enjoyed our stay.
