Stansbury is a small town on the eastern side of the Yorke Peninsular of South Australia and well known in the area for the waterfront markets. We were travelling in the area prior to Christmas and headed to these country style markets for some homemade products. The Markets were small but interesting and we found some great gifts like dog treats, goats milk soap, dried quandongs and saltbush rub. They had some great emus made from rock and steel but these were too heavy and large to take home.
The markets run on a Saturday morning from 9.00 am – 2.00 pm commencing each year on the October long weekend and run through to April the following year. The markets operate each long weekend throughout that period and on average run once a month. Admission to the markets is free and the range of stalls include local produce, home-made baked goods, art works, gifts, crafts, fishing gear, dog products, leather goods, jewellery, clothing, fashion accessories, plants, toys, lucky dips, face painting, food and drinks.
This was a very pleasant way to spend Saturday morning.
