Jaques Coffee Plantation - Mareeba

Jaques Coffee Plantation is about 14 kilometres from Mareeba, Queensland. Turn off the Kennedy Highway onto Gilmore Road and then onto Leotta Road to reach Jaques - plenty of space to park the Caravan. We joined one of the daily tours of the plantation which began with a short film of the difficulties faced in creating this coffee plantation - some people really are very determined to see their dream become a reality.

Our guide took us to look at the machinery used in harvesting and processing the beans before heading off in a bus to view the Arabica Coffee trees and other aspects of the farm. The tour included a cup of coffee which was great - from tree to the cup in one location (can't get fresher than that). We were also given a taste of the coffee liqueurs Jaques have helped to create using their beans - these were very good and we purchased some bottles of liqueur as presents.  

Jaques have an on-line shop so you can order their products and have them freighted to your home address. They also have a range of coffee mugs and souvenir products. We really enjoyed this visit and were pleased we took the time from our journey to visit Jaques and join this tour - the guide was knowledgeable, friendly and happy to answer any questions.
