We headed into Adels Grove to camp for a couple of nights and explore this part of Queensland. Adels Grove is adjacent to Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park and close to the Riversleigh Fossil Area. If you do have your own tent or caravan then Adels Grove has cabins and permanent tents available for your stay.
We set up our tent in The Grove - a shady camp site on Lawn Hill Creek. There are no set sites so you just find an area that suits your needs. It is just a short walk to the amenities, restaurant and booking office. Tours are available and the evening meal is a set menu - lunch and breakfast can also be purchased. I would suggest that you take a torch for walking around at night as there are large numbers of small cane toads in the area. There is another camp site which allows generators and is suitable for caravans.
There are several spots to go swimming - the water is green in colour from the minerals contained in the spring that feeds this creek. We hired paddles from Adels Grove and drove to Boodjamulla National Park for a canoe trip up the gorge. We headed to the top of the gorge to see the spring - had to carry the canoe for 30 metres across rocks to the second gorge which was quite difficult.
The road into Adels Grove is dirt but was in very good condition. We highly recommended this camping spot - the food was good, staff are friendly and helpful and it is a beautiful place to relax.
