The Visitor Information Centre is located across from the Mare and Foal Park at the Tamworth end of town - along the New England Highway. During our last visit to Scone there was an amazing sculpture of a horse featured in the middle of the Visitor Information Centre – made of blue string normally used to tie hay bales. This is for sale but I could not fit it in the van (Ha). We were greeted by a lovely lady at the VIC who had only been in town for a short while - but still knew a lot about the area.
Scone is located two hours north of Newcastle; and is known as the Horse Capital of Australia - surrounded by magnificent thoroughbred horse studs. Scone has a great deal to offer its tourists and I would recommend calling at the VIC to obtain brochures and maps of the area.
Souvenirs, local products and other merchandise are also available for purchase. There are seats in the shade outside the VIC so you can sit, relax and read information on things to see and do in the area.
