While staying in Albury we took an afternoon drive to Lake Hume and the Hume Dam, which is a huge expanse of water in the Murry River. Within walking distance of the Lake Hume Tourist Park is the dam wall which was commissioned between the world wars - a huge engineering feat. This is also a hydro-electric station.
Lake Hume Tourist Park is a member of Family Parks and is located on the foreshore of the lake. This is a huge park with lots of permanent vans - some not so appealing. Caravan sites were grassed, and some did not appear to be level, but had plenty of space for privacy.
There are sites on the water with lovely views across to the hills on the other side of Lake Hume. The amenities block is located in centre of the park. Large swimming pool area with games room and children’s playground nearby and a Boom Gate at the entry to the caravan park. Barbeque facilities are supplied and Lake Hume Tourist Park is close to a boat ramp for access to the Lake.
A large number of cabins around the park with some semi-permanent holiday cabins. Most overlook the lake. Next to reception is a very nice café called the Lake Vue Café with lovely covered verandahs and interesting artwork set in the gardens. It has a lovely relaxing feel. All day breakfast plus burgers and light meals, cold and hot drinks and snacks.
Not far from the Lake Hume Resort with a lovely restaurant and hotel overlooking the water.
