Crescent Head is a very popular holiday destination on the mid north coast of NSW - about 20 kilometres south east of Kempsey. We called in to have a look around recently and were very surprised at the number of people staying at the Crescent Head Holiday Park outside school holidays. It was a Friday afternoon and the manager told us it was busy due to a couple of family reunions.
Killick Beach is located at Crescent Head and considered one of Australia’s best beaches with beautiful white sand and great waves for surfing. Killick Creek runs into the ocean near this beach and a perfect safe spot for the kids to go swimming. One of the sections of the Crescent Head Holiday Park sits along the banks of the creek with some prime caravan sites overlooking the water. A footbridge has been built across the creek to access the beach.
One of the activities in town that attracted our attention was the Crescent Head Country Club's golf course. This is a 6 hole course that runs up and down the hills beside cliffs overlooking the ocean. You have to play each hole 3 times to complete a round of 18 holes and carts are recommended. One of the greens sits right alongside the beach footpath - I wonder how many golf balls go missing.
There are a range of cafes, shops and restaurants in town and this place certainly caters for tourists. A lovely spot.
