Bendemeer is a small town on the MacDonald River in NSW - just off the New England Highway between Tamworth and Armidale. The Bendemeer Camping Area is alongside the Showground/Rodeo Ground and accessed via Selina Street just before the service station on Havannah Street.
This is a large camping/caravanning area with sites along the river and around the showground – an honesty box is situated at the beginning of the drive to the parking area ($5 per vehicle). This seemed to be popular with several vans staying the night and enjoying drinks around a fire. Off the main road and fairly quiet.
Bendemeer has lovely general store in town which operated as the PO with a covered verandah along the side of the building to enjoy coffee. The Bendemeer Hotel is not far from the Camping Area and open for dinner.
The camping area has flushing toilets (no showers) and you may need to boil drinking water - allows a 24 hour stay.
